SUMMARY:Infrastructure as code three way shootout & Parallelism in Microsof
 t SQL Server
DESCRIPTION:Microsoft Data &amp\; AI Meetup Berlin\n\nWe are happy to annou
nce our next meetup. On August 19th\, Torsten Strauss will visit us to tal
k about Paralellism in SQL Server and we will have a three way shootout fo
r infrastructure as code.\n\nWhat makes us even happier is that we will ge
t the chance to see Ceteris' new location as we are able to meet in person
in their meeting space.\n\nThe presentations will be given in english lan
guage!\n\n*** Torsten Strauss: Parallelism in Microsoft SQL Server ***\nTo
rsten (MVP\, MCSE\, MCT) has been working with Microsoft SQL Server since
the turn of the millennium and is specialized in performance optimization
for large SQL Server environments.\nHe has been with BP as a database engi
neer for over two decades and collaborates closely with Sarpedon Quality L
ab as a Principal Microsoft SQL Server Consultant. Torsten is the founder
of inside-sqlserver.com and has given more than 120 presentations on Micro
soft SQL Server performance optimization at national and international con
ferences and user groups. Torsten has been recognized as a Microsoft Most
Valuable Professional for Data Platform since 2018.\n\nSQL Server can exec
ute queries in parallel which can sometimes improve the performance of you
 r queries. However\, parallelism has its own challenges\; therefore\, we w
ill look at the concept of parallel executions to understand when it makes
sense to run a query on more than one thread. We deal with topics such as
  CXPacket\, threads\, workers\, execution context\, branches\, MAXDOP\, Co
st threshold for parallelism\, NUMA nodes and the iterators that SQL Serve
r can implement in the execution plan to enable parallelism.\n\n*** The gr
eat 3-way shootout for infrastructure as code ***\nCreating your Azure inf
rastructure as code is often a requirement. Not only does it enable you to
re-create infrastructure in different environments\, it also makes your c
hanges deployable and trackable. There are\, however multiple tools availa
ble to create your infrastructure. Which is the best? We will have three e
xperts available that will show the code for different solutions and discu
ss their pros and cons.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nMeetuplink https://www.meetup.com/de
