 ational effort of Singaporeans\, businesses and government to transform th
 e way people in Singapore live\, work and play using digital technologies 
 powered by innovation in many areas in respond to different changing needs
 . For example\, in Singapore\, the Smart Nation initiative has been establ
 ished to transform waste management practices across the country. Technolo
 gical advancements and the development of core government policy initiativ
 es help to ensure the sustainable management and efficient use of the coun
 try’s waste materials. As part of this\, Singapore also reduces the amou
 nt of waste generated in an effort to create a more circular driven econom
 y. Technology is applied across all sectors of life\, systematically and e
 xtensively\, to improve the lives of our people. In this talk\, we will he
 ar some examples on how the smart nation initiatives have been translated 
 into public and business practices\, and how citizens are involved in the 
 effort.\n\nDr Caroline Wong is the Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching
  and a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University\, Singapore. She completed
  her PhD in business at the Australian National University and the focus o
 f her thesis is on managing the intangible resources and competencies that
  have increasingly become sources of competitive advantage in the creative
  cultural industries such as the film industry. Her research in knowledge 
 management takes on a multidisciplinary approach that extends into knowled
 ge-based cities\, smart cities\, creative cities\, and creative industries
  with special focus on Singapore. She was a member of the International Sc
 ientific Committee of the Knowledge Cities World Summit that organised the
  first Global Knowledge Based Development Week in Monterrey (Mexico) in 20
 07. She was a member of the International Advisory Board on knowledge-base
 d cities between the years 2007-2009. Her academic research also extends i
 nto the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education with focu
 s on experiential learning\, teamwork and entrepreneurship.\nAll are welco
